Create a Derived Process

To create a Derived Process

  1. Open the Process Manager.

  2. Right-click on the Processes heading, or on a Process Set, and select New Derived Process.

The Select Process dialog appears.

  1. Highlight the Process you wish to use as the master for your new Derived Process, and click OK.

A generic derived Process will appear.  The Process name will be Derived Process: Base Process and will be highlighted in edit mode.

  1. Enter the name of the Derived Process, or highlight the Process name in the Properties view and enter the new name.

To Hide/ Show Tasks in a Derived Process

  1. Expand the Derived Process and Sub Process A set of related Tasks in a Process. to view individual Tasks.

Tasks that are inherited by the Base Process appear in italics.

  1. Right-click on a Task, and select Hide Task.

The Hidden Sub Processes and Tasks will appear in a grey font.

To show a task, right-click on a previously-hidden task, and select Show Task.

To add new Tasks to a Derived Process

  1. Right-click on a Process or Sub Process to either add a Sub Process with Tasks, or add a Task to a Sub Process.

Tasks that have been added to a Derived Process will appear below the Derived Process, and will be in normal font.

To break inheritance

  1. Right-click on a Derived Process and select Break Inheritance.

The name of the Process will change from Derived Process: Base Process to Process. Its Sub Processes and Tasks will no longer be italicized.
