Duration Setting

From this dialog, you can indicate the frequency that the Task will have to be reviewed.

A Task component can be considered something that needs to be recertified, or not.

For example, a Task such as "Comply with Dress Code" likely does not need to be recertified - once you know what the dress code is, you shouldn't need to be reminded of such information.  Therefore, this type of task does not require a Duration, and is indicated by selecting None.

Many Tasks require recertification over time.  If this recertification is not dependant on a set date, but is based on the last time that it was completed, you would enter a Number of Days duration.

For example, a Task such as "Comply with CPR" must be recertified every 3 years (or 1095 days).  Unless your particular company wants to coordinate the scheduling of such courses, the Number of Days options could be chosen, and set to 1095 days.

Many Tasks require recertification over time.  If your company wishes to schedule courses for entire groups of people to all recertify on a particular Task at the same time, you may wish to use the Fixed Date option.  Also, if particular resources or policies have a specific "life span", you may also wish to use the Fixed Date option.

For example, "Execute a high-speed chase" may be a recognized Task used by a Police Force.  The SOP for this Task may be revisited every year, to ensure that all safety regulations are being followed.  In this case, you may wish to force all Task qualifications to expire on a particular fixed date, to ensure that your members are following the latest procedure.
