A Task can contain two components: a capability component and a knowledge component. The capability component is comprised of the hands-on learning involved in the Task, and is evaluated using a Capability Assessment. The knowledge component is comprised of the theoretical learning involved in the Task and is evaluated using a written or Knowledge Assessment.
A Knowledge Assessment can either be created using a custom editor within TRACCESS, or can be linked to an external form (such as QuestionMark). A Knowledge Assessment can contain a Practice Assessment, but must contain a Final Assessment.
The following graphic illustrates a sample Internal Knowledge Assessment.
Within TRACCESS, a Knowledge Assessment is used by several roles for different purposes:
Subject Matter Experts
Add a Knowledge Assessment property to a Task and populate the Knowledge Assessment with relevant questions and answers.
Generate paper assessments to be distributed to Learners.
Learners
Access the Knowledge Assessment attached to a particular Task by taking either a Practice or Final assessment.
A completed Final Assessment that obtains the set pass mark will satisfy the Practical component of the Task—this turns the Practical component of the Task to black.
Supervisors
Set qualification dates on the Knowledge component of the Task if the Final Assessment was completed using a paper assessment.
Generate paper assessments (with permissions).
