A prerequisite is required knowledge that needs to be attained before completing a Task. For example, in high school or university courses, you must complete English 10 or 100 before moving onto English 20 or 200. This works the same way in TRACCESS, as a Standard First Aid Task would be a prerequisite of Advanced First Aid.
When prerequisites are assigned to a Task, they can be enforced (blocking the completion of a Task until the prerequisites are complete) or not enforced (simply informing the employee that prerequisites exist). Enforcing prerequisites helps to ensure competency and a progressive and positive learning experience for your employees.
Prerequisites can be separately enforced for
Knowledge Assessments
Capability Assessments
SCORM Resources
Set Qualification Dates Dialog
Import Learning Records
Set Course Marks
Prerequisites are used by and affect different roles:
Learners - When a Task is selected in My Job, prerequisites are displayed in the context view.
Subject Matter Experts/Task Owners - When designing Tasks, SMEs can assign prerequisites Tasks to Tasks.
System Owners - Decides whether or not prerequisites are enforced. This is set by selecting Tools > System Options > Task and clicking the Edit... button beside Enforce Prerequisites.
